Aelin grew up in a loving family, being the only daughter her parents doted on her. Being an only child she never had anyone to play with besides the kids at school and she begged her parents for a sibling, but she never got one. She later learned her mother had trouble conceiving her, and having another child could kill her, so her parents decided to just have Aelin. Her parents believed that interacting with humans would compromise their clan, so she was raised to not hate humans but to be weary of them.As she grew she dreamed of finding love as her parents did.
